Description
Unique&Antique Clobber Shoeshiner Street box from Lisbon – Portugal
Estimated period 1890-1930
In the box is signed “The Grease” – ” O Graxa” the name by which this street clobber called itself.
In the photos you can see that this box includes on top the foot rests & grease + Wood handle
The box has a lock (needs restoration) and opens with 2 doors giving access to its generous interior.
On the side is the bank for the cobbler sit which then collects into the box.
*the own box and the weight of the client’s foot, serves as support to the other end of the bank !! So Shoeshiner is safe !! Amazing
This is a unique and incredible article that shows some of the history of Portugal before and after WW1.
This type of street work practically no longer exists, in Portugal it had its peak until the years 60-70 and then it disappeared until the present day.
It´s a very collectable item. Don´t miss.
