RARE ALUSIVE MEDAL AT THE FIRST DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS IN PORTUGAL

In April 25, 1974 happened the Portuguese revolution also known as the Harpsichord revolution.

Political situation that caused the fall of dictatorial regime of the “New state” led by Salazar – known as Salazarist regime.
On the same day and month but of the year 1976, happens in Portugal the 1ºs democratic elections for the  republic assembly

Several political parties compete among them the P.D.C:- Partido da Democracia Cristâ
The PDC was suspended from political activity during the PREC for allegedly supporting General Spínola during the coup attempt of March 11, 1975 and for having become a “surrogate mother” for the extreme right (despite the leader- founder Sanches Osório was one of the Captains of April and some of the party’s founders were Christian Democrats), and its illegalization was requested in Parliament until these 1976 elections.
The Party was dissolved in 2004.
The P.D.C. was in 9º place with 29.978 votes, 

These elections were won by the PS led by exile Mário Soares, the first Portuguese Minister

Medal super rare, not only due to the fact that it was the 1st democratic elections of a European country (Portugal) but also to be a controversial Political party no longer existent.
