Superb rare “Já Fumega” collectors Box set cd+ Comic Book Rock 80’s ” New Sealed”
The group was born as a result of the end of the teen pop quartet Mini Pop, a group with the Barreiros brothers (Mário, Eugénio and Pedro) that had some success in the 1970s. [1]
The debut album by Jafumega, entirely in English, was released in 1980 under the name Somos Aí. [1]
Taking advantage of the musical wave that was happening in Portugal in the early 80s, the Jafumega decided to sing in Portuguese, launching the single “Dá-me Lume” which was very successful thanks to the theme “Ribeira”. [1]
In 1982, Jafumega released the self-titled album that includes themes like “Latin’américa”, “Kasbah” and “Nó Cégo”. Some of the lyrics were written by Carlos Tê. [1] The album was well received by the public and critics and that year they play in Vilar de Mouros. [1]
In 1983 they published the album Recados, with themes like “Romaria” and “La Dolce Vita”, but that is not so well received and the group makes a stop. [1]
In 1985, the band’s intention to release a new album, São João Brejeiro, is announced, but it never came to fruition. [1]
After 30 years, in 2013, the original members revived the group and performed several concerts in Portugal.
